Northampton declares a Climate Emergency

At a recent meeting, members of the new Northampton Town Council noted previous climate emergency declarations by both Northampton Borough Council and Northamptonshire County Council and unanimously agreed that, as a new Council it was vital to put the climate emergency at the forefront of any decisions they take. The Council therefore resolved to declare a Climate Emergency and set 2030 as the date to be Carbon Neutral. It was further agreed to establish a local community Climate Change Forum to meet quarterly, and annually review targets and progress. After the Council's first elections on 6th May, the 25 newly elected town councillors will be discussing how to take forward this important project.
